Lizzy Coleman displays a strong desire to continually improve herself, has endless stamina, a gift of natural know-how and tender compassion for those who have challenges.
Her primary focus as an educator at ATEC is to help her students gain independence in the community. She has developed curriculum and programs that are exciting for her students and help them prepare for post high school education, employment and independent living skills. She also works with her staff and vocational rehabilitation to help find paid employment for all of her students in an area of their interest. In this last year, 78% of her senior students had paid employment before their graduation from ATEC.
Lizzy has a natural sympathy for the difficult circumstances our students face. A parent says it best, “She always went beyond what was expected of her to make sure [my son] had the extra help he needed without ever making him feel ‘less than’ her. He always looked forward to going to school to see Mrs. Coleman because she always made him feel important and loved.”
Thanks for making a difference in the lives of your students.
