Brock Parkinson is a student at John Hancock Charter School in Orem and was chosen as the Daily Herald's Student of the Week.
Parkinson is a great student and works very hard. He has moved from a reluctant reader to being on fire. He is interested in anything and everything. Each week he is eager to help other students find books to read in the library and encourages them to try something new. His enthusiasm is contagious!
Recently Parkinson and his family traveled to Mexico to help paint homes and schools. At first, the poverty and differences scared him. But then he got to work and never wanted to leave. He came back trying to convince everyone that "serving makes you feel good."
Parkinson has had multiple surgeries due to a medical condition. He has learned to challenge the odds and to challenge expectations. He is one determined kid.
