HILL AIR FORCE BASE — More than half a million people are expected to attend the 2022 Warriors Over the Wasatch Air and Space Show this weekend. Hill Air Force Base will open to the public at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday with free admission to the show.

The extensive aerial show is making a memorable return after four years. Traditionally a biennial celebration, the air show was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Featured demonstrations include the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds conducting “world class acts,” the jet-powered Shockwave Truck and a pyrotechnics display by Firewalkers International.

A wide variety of static civilian and military aircraft such as helicopters, fighters, bombers, large cargo transports and refuelers will be on display, some of which will be open for attendees to look around in.

In addition to aircraft on exhibit, numerous types of ground transport and fighting vehicles will be on display.

Booths and hands-on activities in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math are being featured at STEM City, an attraction added to the air show in 2018 as a way to encourage and inform the public of the opportunities available in STEM fields.

“We are thrilled with this year’s lineup of exhibits,” Hill AFB STEM Coordinator Alison Sturgeon said. “It’s going to be even bigger and better than it was in 2018.”

In addition to giant video games, drones, robots, virtual reality, welding simulators and rocket launchers filling an entire flight hanger, this year will feature models of NASA’s Mars Perseverance rover and Ingenuity helicopter in the “Roving With Perseverance” exhibit.

With much to experience at the 2022 air show in Northern Utah, heavy traffic around the base is anticipated. Attendees are encouraged to ride the UTA FrontRunner to the Clearfield Station where free shuttle buses to the show will take attendees to the show. There is, however, limited parking available a the Clearfield Station.

Additional parking for the event can be found at the Weber State University-Davis campus off of University Parkway Boulevard and at Northridge High School off of Hill Field Road. Shuttle buses will also be available at these locations, running continuously throughout Saturday and Sunday.

For attendees wishing to park on base, there will be parking areas just inside the Roy and West gates. Attendees will not be admitted through the South Gate. Directions to gates can be found online at hill.af.mil/Warriors-Over-The-Wasatch.
