Sub for Santa, a program run by the United Way of Utah County, helps local families in need during the holidays.

Helena’s children love the Christmas season with all the lights, music and Santa. However, this single mom of four needs a volunteer family to help put presents under the tree this year.

“I have four children; my youngest two have severe autism. This makes it nearly impossible for me to work,” Helena said. “My kids require not just a regular babysitter but more help. They can be a danger to themselves so they can’t be with normal babysitters.”

Helena is turning to Sub for Santa and perhaps a volunteer family to adopt hers this Christmas.

“I am grateful there are people who are willing to step up when I can’t do something for my kids. It’s nice to know that I will have help,” Helena said.

The following are requests from Helena’s kids this Christmas:

Her oldest is a 15-year-old male. He needs shoes, shirts and pants. His pant size is 48, shirt size 3XL and shoe size 14. His favorite color is blue. He loves video games to play, and as for books he wants the “Trapped in a Video Game” series.

The next child is a 9-year-old female. She needs dresses, shoes and shirts. Her pant and shirt size is 10-12 and shoe size is a 2. Her favorite color is pink. She would like “Harry Potter” books, “Charlotte’s Web” and “Narnia” books. As for toys, she would like Pokemon things and stuffed animals.

The third children is a female, age 8. She needs dresses, shirts and pajamas. She wears size 10-12 tops and bottoms and her shoe is a 1. Her favorite color is purple. She would like “Pete the Cat” books, anything written by David Shannon and coloring books. She loves Disney’s Princess Tiana and Bluey toys.

The youngest is a 7-year-old male who needs pants, shirts and church shirts. He wears size 10 clothing and shoe size 1. His favorite color is green. He is nonverbal and would like picture books. As for toys, he likes dinosaurs and things that spin.
