A Utah County Sheriff's Office vehicle is shown Friday, Sept. 27, 2024.

The Utah County Sheriff’s Office has identified the woman hit and killed on a Saratoga Springs residential street as 75-year-old Lola Klein Ferkovich of Saratoga Springs.

Around 8:30 a.m. Monday, Ferkovich was crossing a street near the intersection of Cozy Lane and Floribunda Drive when she was struck by a car turning south, the sheriff’s office said.

Responders from the Saratoga Springs police and fire departments rendered aid to the critically injured woman before she was flown to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, where she died a short time later after arriving.

The driver, a 44-year-old woman who is an employee of the city, stayed on the scene and cooperated with the authorities who initially responded to the crash.

However, since she is a city employee, the Saratoga Springs Police Department has asked the sheriff’s office to handle the investigation “to avoid any conflict of interest,” a press release stated.

The speed limit through the area is 20 mph, but at this point investigators don’t suspect that speeding was a factor.

Authorities ultimately will determine what happened through a full investigation.
