Keeping tabs on the most up-to-date information in an emergency is important, especially when time counts.

Last month in Sandy, many residents expressed frustration when a fluoride pump malfunctioned after a power outage and they never received notifications, since many had not signed up to receive emergency alerts through the city.

Cities in Utah County are part of an opt-in emergency notification system, which allows you to receive information for a variety of situations, including severe weather, law enforcement activity, missing persons, evacuations and community concerns. The system also allows you to sign up to receive specialized notifications, like those for the Bald Mountain and Pole Creek fires last summer or updates about algal blooms on Utah Lake.

But, how do you sign up? This information will help you to sign up no matter which city you live in.
