BYU is overseen by the Church Educational System, a network that includes the Provo campus, BYU-Idaho, BYU-Hawaii, LDS Business College in downtown Salt Lake City, seminaries, institutes of religion and its newest element, BYU-Pathway Worldwide.
With increasing numbers in the church, the CES is seeing more and more students and applicants. Here's fun facts by the numbers of each of the seven CES schools and programs.
About 400,000 high school-aged seminary students are around the world.
Seminary is a supplementary class to LDS members in high school. Though the class doesn't count towards high school credit, the seminary institution has its own grading system and graduation.
Institute, religion-based classes for young adults, is attended by 324,500 students.
The largest institute program is on UVU campus in Orem. Like seminary, students do not get school credit.
Brigham Young University in Provo
Brigham Young University in Provo is capped at about 30,000 students. The university's acceptance rate is about 51%.
BYU is not considering a three-track model, according to Carri Jenkins, a spokeswoman for BYU. However, she said that last year the university’s board of trustees -- made up of the church’s highest officials -- authorized the university to explore moderately raising its enrollment cap.
Brigham Young University-Idaho
BYU's sister school, Brigham Young University-Idaho, has about 15,000 students -- half of BYU's.
BYU-Idaho is located in Rexburg. The university has managed its growth through the use of a three-track model, where students are assigned two trimesters to attend in order to accommodate more students on campus.
Brigham Young University-Hawaii
Brigham Young University-Hawaii has a much smaller student body than BYU or BYU-I, capping off at 2,400.
BYU-H is located on the island of Oahu. It sits on 100 acres of land near the ocean.The Polynesian Cultural Center that sits adjacent to the university provides jobs for many of BYU-H students.
LDS Business College
LDS Business College is the smallest of the church-owned colleges at about 1,300 students.
The college is housed in Salt Lake City near Temple Square and the Conference Center.
Though the program is not a physical school, it boasts the most students out of all the CES schools. About 40,000 students were a part of the online program, according to a 2018 annual report.
