Friday is the International Day of Families, as designated by the United Nations. The UN General Assembly created the designation in 1993 to promote awareness of issues relating to families.
Try one of these family-friendly activities in Utah County this year to celebrate the day with your family.
Go on a hike
Utah Valley is home to many canyons with fun hikes that even the littlest kids can enjoy. Battle Creek Falls boasts a waterfall and stream at the end to reward the kids for all their walking. Visit Bridal Veil Falls for a spectacular waterfall and a fun little pond stocked with fish to feed. Payson Lakes and Y Mountain are also great hikes for the family.
Eat at a family-friendly restaurant
Taking the night off from cooking is bound to make everyone happy. Take the kids out to a variety of restaurants that cater to families, either with cheap kids' fare or a fun family atmosphere. Check out some of the places that have been voted most family-friendly in the valley.
Bowling is an activity that everyone can enjoy. When you bring the kids along, not only will they enjoy it, but you will love having an excuse to put the bumpers up too. So put on your bowling shoes and check out these places that were voted best in the valley for bowling.
Enjoy the weather with a day in the park
The weather has warmed up, and this is the perfect time to head to the park with the kids before the summer temperatures get unbearable. Bring some soccer balls and a picnic basket and let the kids go wild. And if the weather isn't perfect and the wind is here to stay for awhile, just bring a kite along.
