All eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 189 are open in Provo Canyon after an avalanche Friday evening, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The snow from the avalanche covered the westbound lanes of traffic at mile marker 12 in the canyon. The cause of the avalanche is unknown, said UHP Trooper Dave Hull.

The Utah Highway Patrol said that State Route 92 in Provo Canyon was closed as well.

There are no injuries reported. The roads were cleared by around 8:45 p.m.

Troopers responded to nearly 146 crashes and slide-offs across the state by Friday evening. Authorities asked drivers to increase following distance, double check tire tread and slow down in bad weather.
