Vineyard has only technically been a city since 2016, but it has been a town for 30 years.

Vineyard was incorporated as a town on May 11, 1989, and recieved city designation in 2016. In the 2010 Census, the population was 139 and the most recent estimates put population anywhere from 10,000 to 14,000 residents.

In its early days, though, it was home to farmland and most notably the Geneva Steel Plant.
