Man killed in officer-involved shooting in Orem 01

Police arrive at an officer-involved shooting in Orem on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018.

A man was killed Friday in Orem after being shot by two Orem Police Department officers.

The shooting was near 81 N. Paradise Drive in Orem.

The officers were called to the residence at about 2:45 p.m. on reports of a family problem. Lt. Craig Martinez with the Orem Police Department said the man reportedly approached officers with a knife. A Taser was deployed, but it was ineffective in stopping the man. Officers then fired shots at the man.

Officers initiated CPR and the man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

He died at about 4:20 p.m.

Both officers were wearing body cameras at the time of the shooting.
