Crash at 1860 S. State Street 01

A two-car crash near 1860 S. State St. is investigated by members of the Provo Police Department on Wednesday, Mar. 7, 2018, in Provo.

A person is dead after a head-on collision near the intersection of 1860 South and State Street in south Provo.

According to Sgt. Nisha King with the Provo Police Department, a driver went into the wrong lane, putting them directly “opposite” other vehicles, at 11:12 a.m. Wednesday.

“One vehicle was traveling east; one was traveling west,” King said.

The car then collided with another car head on.

Each driver, one a female and the other male, were transferred to Utah Valley Hospital, according to King. All traffic on 1860 South near the Springville border was closed for approximately two-and-a-half hours.

King said she didn’t know why one of the drivers went into the opposite lane but pointed out that a police investigation team was on the scene.

King did not disclose the name of the deceased person.
