Felony charges were filed on Monday against a man who reportedly sexually abused a young girl during a friend’s sleepover nearly eight years ago.

Victor M. Acosta, 51, is facing a first-degree felony of aggravated sexual abuse of a child and five second-degree felonies of sexual abuse of a child.

In 2011, he reportedly lived in Orem when a girl between the age of 11 and 12 came to sleepover at his home with a friend, according to charges in 4th District Court.

Acosta inappropriately touched the girl several times when she would sleepover at the home, investigators reported.

The girl reported the abuse to an ecclesiastical leader in 2018 and later spoke to her therapist and parents, who contacted law enforcement.

Acosta was reportedly deported to Mexico after serving time at a Nevada prison, but investigators believe he returned to Utah and may be living in Orem.
