It's homecoming week for BYU Cougars, which means a week-long cadre of both traditional and new activities to make students and alumni proud to be a Cougar.
And yeah, there won't be a parade, which is a bit of a bummer, but there's still a ton of events ready to roll.
From Hiking the Y to watching the football game, there's a lot to keep anyone who bleeds blue occupied. Here are six events happening during homecoming week.
The week kicks off strong with a celebration and opening ceremony held Tuesday at the Marriott Center, in place of the weekly devotional. The marching band will perform live for students, plus several other special surprises.
When & where: 11:05 a.m., Tuesday at the Marriott Center
Light the Y
You can't have homecoming week without the "Light the Y" hike. Students and alumni climb Y Mountain to participate in lighting the Y, and even though new permanent lighting has been installed, it's impossible to forget this favorite event in the homecoming celebrations.
When & where: 6 p.m., Tuesday at the Wilkinson Student Center
Between Hilary Weeks and Ben Rector, this year's BYU Spectacular! is sure to be nothing short of just that — spectacular.
Hilary Weeks is a popular LDS artist while Ben Rector has cranked out hits like "Brand New" and "When a Heart Breaks." Considering the history of the BYU Spectacular! and past acts like David Archuleta, Colbie Caillat and Kristen Chenoweth, this is sure to be a show-stopping performance.
When & where: 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday and Friday, Marriott Center
BYU Birthday Bash
Celebrate the spirit of BYU by celebrating the 144th birthday of BYU. Whether you want to stuff yourself with cake or jam out to the DJ in blacklight, there will be plenty going on at BYU's birthday party.
When & where: 8 to 11 p.m., Friday, Wilkinson Student Center
Burn off those calories before you pound down a Cougar Tail at the game by participating in the annual Cougar Run! This fun 5K is a tradition of homecoming week and is a great to keep active in the cooler weather.
When & where: 9:45 a.m., Saturday, Robison Track and Field Complex
BYU vs. Boise State game
After the Cougars lost in South Florida to the USF Bulls, the Cougars are (hopefully) primed and ready to take on Boise State this Saturday at home.
Kickoff between the Cougars and the Broncos is at 8:15 p.m. Saturday night.
