The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is preparing to open its Oakland California Temple for an open house after an extensive renovation.

The temple, which is typically only open to members who have recommends, will be open to public for tours Saturday through June 1, excluding Sundays. The temple will then be rededicated on June 16, with a youth devotional the night before on June 15.

The temple was closed in February 2018 for renovations. It was also closed for extensive renovations that took two years and was reopened in 1990.

The temple was originally completed and dedicated in 1964, and at the time was the 13th operating temple of the church. It was the second temple completed in California after the Los Angeles California Temple.

Today it is one of seven temples in California. An eighth temple has been announced for Yuba City, California as well.
