Large crowds  gathered at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi Saturday to witness some of the largest pumpkins in the country tip the scales during the Utah Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off. The annual competition held by the Utah Giant Pumpkin Growers featured dozens of pumpkins, some of which weighing over half a ton. Other foods were weighed in as well such as watermelons, tomatoes, and pumpkin pie.

Alan Gebert has been growing competition pumpkins for two years and was talked into competing by a friend.

"They grow a pound an hour in July and August," Gebert said. "You just go out there from one day to the next and they're growing so fast. It's just fun to watch."
