A boil advisory for Elk Ridge may not be lifted until Friday or later, according to a Facebook post from the city.
The city initially issued the advisory, which remained in effect as of Wednesday morning, after a water main broke Friday.
The advisory remained in effect Wednesday morning as the city waited for another test. An initial test showed there was no E. coli present in samples, but that three of nine samples tested positive for coliform, according to a Facebook post from Elk Ridge.
The state requires two consecutive tests that show no coliform present, according to the post. The city is flushing its water system to meet the requirement.
“As a precaution, the boil advisory will not be lifted at this time,” the post reads. “We thank you for your understanding and patience on this matter.”
The next update is expected on Friday, according to the post.
