The Utah County Sheriff's Office is searching for a woman who was reported missing after her abandoned car was discovered Sunday night.

Her silver Jeep Grand Cherokee was found in a remote abandoned mining area a few miles east of Eureka, near U.S. Highway 6 in southwestern Utah County.

Deputies received a report Sunday evening of the abandoned vehicle from a man and woman driving in the area who reported seeing the car Saturday evening abandoned with the doors open. According to the Utah County Sheriff's Office, at the time, they attributed it to someone sightseeing in the area.

Deputies reported that the same couple, from Eureka, drove by Sunday evening again and saw the doors were still open, and at that time contacted dispatchers.

According to the Utah County Sheriff's Office, deputies collected information from the Jeep and identified the owners as a man and a woman from Oasis, in Milliard County. Milliard County deputies, as well as Utah County Sheriff's deputies, contacted the man, who said his wife left their home in Oasis sometime between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday.

The missing woman has been identified as Stacy Jo Morrill, 52, according to the Utah County Sheriff's Office. She is believed to have taken as much as $3,000 in cash with her. Sheriff's officials also say she has no credit cards and did not take her cell phone with her.

Deputies with the Utah County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from Utah County Search and Rescue and a helicopter from the Department of Public Safety, searched the area Sunday evening. Search efforts resumed Monday morning with Utah County Search and Rescue, Utah County Sheriff's Office's Mounted Posse, a fixed-wing aircraft and a search-and-rescue helicopter.

There were items belonging to Morrill in and around the Jeep, but officials said that there is no indication she was injured or that foul play is involved.

Morrill is reported to have knee problems but no other known medical issues. According to the Utah County Sheriff's Office, she may be experiencing emotional stress or be suffering from undiagnosed mental health problems.

She is 6-feet tall, has hazel eyes and blonde hair, and weighs about 198 pounds.

Anyone with information about Morrill's whereabouts is asked to call (801) 794-3970.
