Event Kicks Off Local America250 Celebration Series

MT. PLEASANT — Anticipation is mounting in North Sanpete County as plans come together for a festive fundraiser supporting the Veterans Memorial Park in Mt. Pleasant. The free-admission event will be held Saturday, November 15, at the Contoy Indoor Arena, promising an evening filled with fun, community spirit, and patriotic celebration.

The fundraiser marks the first in a series of events planned in North Sanpete County leading up to America250, the nationwide commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, to be celebrated on July 4, 2026. The America250 initiative is a multi-year national effort to engage, educate, and unite Americans in honor of the nation’s semiquincentennial milestone.

Here at home, the Veterans Memorial Park fundraiser aims to combine family entertainment with opportunities to support a meaningful local cause. Attendees will enjoy a free concert by Fat in the Fire, a silent auction featuring over 250 items–perfect for early Christmas shopping–and a variety of family-friendly activities.

A lively Kids Corner will include supervised games, a coloring contest with prizes, ring toss, corn hole, and giant Plinko. Adults and children alike can also join in contra dancing and browse booths offering handmade jewelry, vintage treasures, and holiday décor.

As the evening draws to a close, the Sanpete Valley Choral Arts Society from Moroni will perform the National Anthem at approximately 8:45 p.m., followed by a fireworks display outside the arena, generously presented by the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department.

Fundraising for the Veterans Memorial Park will be at the heart of the festivities, with proceeds from vendors and programs throughout the evening contributing to the effort.

Guests can also take part in a special photo session booth presented by Snap Squatch/Sound Squatch from Fairview. The booth will offer instant prints and customizable Christmas cards starting at just $5. Attendees are encouraged to bring a photo of a veteran they wish to honor–Snap Squatch’s technology can scan the image and digitally include their likeness in new family photos taken on-site.

Another way to support the park is through the “Buy a Brick” program, which allows donors to purchase a personalized 4-by-8-inch brick to be permanently installed at the Veterans Memorial Park. Duplicate keepsake bricks, with optional military branch symbols, will also be available for an additional cost. Forms for brick adoption will be available at the event.

Food will be provided by The Corner Station from Fairview, and popcorn will be available for just $1.

Organizers say even more surprises are being added as the event approaches, ensuring plenty of fun for all ages.

“Don’t miss this amazing evening,” the event committee encourages. “Bring your family, enjoy the festivities, and help support a lasting tribute to our veterans.”

Festivities begin at 5 p.m. and will continue through the fireworks finale shortly after 9 p.m. at the Contoy Indoor Arena in Mt. Pleasant.

Starting at $4.32/week.
