Education: Worked for UVU in continuing community education

What are the biggest issues facing your city and how do you plan to address them?

Roads! Roads! Roads!

Someone asked me what my top 3 or 4 priorities were and wanted an under 15 second response:

1. ROADS! (Transportation)

A second north south road is needed and to negotiate the funding for that with MAG. Also the expansion of Pony Express all the way to PG/Lindon is important.

2. Rapid Growth! PROP 6! (Limiting future high density zoning) when the infrastructure can't handle it yet!

Roads need to be the priority first. Our current roads are not adequate as 1/3 the city would be in trouble if an evacuation occurred with only one road in and out. That is my primary priority for the next 4 years.

3. Supporting Public Safety (Police. Fire. Ambulence)

4. Keeping Taxes LOW

How to accomplish low taxes:

I understand the proper role of government. We focus on needs not wants.

Encouraging businesses to fill many of the wants (invite private companies to develop recreation centers or water slides or resorts) and not taxing for entertainment.

What sets you apart from other candidates?

I communicate.

I readily use social media tools to inform the public. I am looking at expanding those tools to make public involvement in our city easier. There are already free text and app systems being used by other cities we need to take advantage of.

What relevant experience do you have for this position?

I have presided over 100s accumulative meetings while working for Saratoga Springs helping to run community led programs to improve personal safety, home safety, and neighborhood safety. I taught a variety of free community education courses over several years to help people live prepared and to be self reliant.

I helped support our current emergency services and public safety, as we started out own services for our city and pulled away from reliance on county services.

What previous elected positions have you held?

I am the current elected Saratoga Springs Precinct 10 chair.

I am a current elected state delegate.

I am a current elected country delegate.

Is there anything else you want our readers to know about you?

Married nearly 30 years. 7 children. Most are grown and getting married and starting their own families now. 16 plus year resident of Saratoga.

Big supporter of small business. I own and operate several companies and am a manufacturer. I understand the need for government to get out of the way so small businesses can afford to compete.
