Education: Studied Film and Business at Brigham Young University
What are the biggest issues facing your city and how do you plan to address them?
I outline six issues on my website that I’m focusing on, but the top two are Transportation and City Amenities.
1) Transportation. We’re not the only city with rapid growth which has caused high demand on our state and city roads. I have been and will continue to be supportive in our efforts to work with UDOT and other agencies to speed up our transportation projects within our city. Currently, we will be expanding Crossroads Blvd to 5 lanes across the river to 2300 W in Lehi this spring and are also setting land aside for Pony Express expansion east to the freeway and the future Foothill Blvd expansion south of the new Mountain View Corridor. I will continue to focus on these and other road projects to relieve our traffic congestion.
2) Keeping Saratoga Springs Unique. There are many wonderful things about Saratoga Springs that, if not planned for properly, we run the risk of losing forever. We have a beautiful vista of Utah Lake and the mountains and need better access to the lake with unique features and our city is also named after its natural hot springs. Both very unique features that we are currently master planning for our city with ideas to expand our hot springs into a recreational “Lava Hot Springs” type of destination location and we have also acquired a marina on the north-end of the lake with concept plans of beach front, shopping, boardwalk, camping, and other activities that brings us back to our city’s recreational roots. I want to continue to see those plans through without raising property taxes.
What sets you apart from other candidates?
Having known and served with many of the candidates, I know that we really have a great lot to choose from, but I would say that my unique and creative experience of having already worked with the current council and city staff for many years will help bring stronger and better communication to our city. My love and passion for community building and keeping true to the proper role of government will help elevate our lifestyles. And my true concern for the well-being of others will generate sincere and lasting relationships for our city.
What relevant experience do you have for this position?
I currently serve on our city council and have done so for over two years. Before that I had attended numerous city council meetings for over three years while serving as President for a large and very active HOA for over five years. And my professional experience in business and project management, I feel all combines into providing the necessary experience to be an efficient and effective city council member.
What previous elected positions have you held?
I currently serve on City Council and was appointed to the City Council back in August 2017. I am also a State and County delegate for my precinct. And I have served as President for The Villages at Saratoga Springs HOA for over five years.
Is there anything else you want your readers to know about you?
I have lived in Saratoga Springs for over 12 years and can’t think of anywhere else we’d rather live. I care deeply about serving in and strengthening communities. Last year I helped organize a large Suicide Prevention event with Collin Kartchner for our students at Vista Heights and Westlake schools along with a well-attended parent night. In my professional care, I’m constantly working to improve the lives of our youth, their parents, and those that work within our organization. And I would like the opportunity to continue to do that for everyone within our city.
