Head Coach: Billy Nixon

2015 record: 4-6 overall, 1-4 in League (5th)

Playoffs: Lost to Enterprise 37-6 in 2A first round.

Players to watch: Owen Huff, Jr. RB; Dallen Short, Sr. RB; Jackson Shockley, Jr. QB; Mike Van Wagoner, Sr. OL/DL

Outlook: The Eagles took a big step forward in 2015 and are hoping to keep building the momentum. Head coach Billy Nixon called this year's squad the hardest working team he's had at ALA.

"I love the enthusiasm," Nixon said. "I think we are going to more physical this year and I think we are going to be in better shape this year."

The Eagles have some talented guys in the backfield as they return a pair of 1,000-yard rushers in Owen Huff and Dallen Short. Jackson Shockley also has a year at quarterback already under his belt.

The biggest challenge is again going to be depth. ALA has some good players but will be outnumbered in virtually every game.

"I call my boys the Mighty 20," Nixon said. "We go and play teams with 50 boys but I tell my team that I will trade 50 boys for 20 men. We are the smallest roster size."

If the offensive line can stay low and open up holes for the running backs, Nixon has a lot of optimism for how ALA will do in 2016.

Tradition: ALA is still finding its stride in football but this year it has the most juniors and seniors it has had in the program. On the field, however, having some consistency with a coaching staff going into its third year is paying off in the strength and conditioning program. -- Daily Herald
