IRVING, Texas – Entering its inaugural season as Big 12 members, BYU women’s soccer will play 10 conference matches over a six-week period, spanning from mid-September through late-October.

As the Cougars begin their foray into the Big 12, schedule releases like the one on Monday will be a common bell-ringing event over the spring and summer.

A big change for BYU women’s soccer is that league games, which have generally included Saturdays while members of the West Coast Conference, are a thing of the past. Big 12 games are on a Thursday-Monday schedule.

BYU has two instances where it plays back-to-back Big 12 road games. The Cougars are at Baylor on September 21 and at Texas on Sept. 25. Later, BYU rolls into Stillwater for a game against Oklahoma State on on Thursday (Oct. 12) followed by a trip to Norman against Oklahoma on Monday (Oct. 16).

The team could just stay out on the road (a Wednesday travel day until late Monday or early Tuesday morning) or make two separate trips.

Of the 10 Big 12 games, four will be first-time meetings between BYU and Big 12 opponents (Cincinnati, Iowa State, Texas Tech and UCF).

The Cougars begin their conference schedule with a home game against TCU on Sept. 14. It will be the first BYU Big 12 event, as members of the conference, across all BYU sports. After hosting TCU, BYU travels to Baylor on Sept. 21 and Texas on Sept. 25.

BYU then plays three of its next four games on the road, at Baylor on Sept. 21, at Texas on Sept. 25, back home to face Cincinnati on Sept. 28 and at Iowa State on Oct. 2.

The Cougars return home for a pair of matches on South Field, with battles against Texas Tech on Oct. 5 and Kansas State on Oct. 9.

A trip to Oklahoma to face Oklahoma State (Oct. 12) and Oklahoma (Oct. 16) is followed by the final game of the regular season against UCF on Oct. 23 at home.

There are three Big 12 teams BYU won’t play in its first season: Houston, Kansas and West Virginia.

After the regular season concludes, the Cougars will compete in the Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championship tournament, beginning Oct. 28 in Round Rock, Texas. The NCAA Tournament bracket will be announced on Nov. 6.

Game times and broadcast information for preseason and conference games will be released at a later date.

Head Coach Jennifer Rockwood teased a bit of the non-conference slate on Monday’s BYU Sports Nation, which includes the home opener against St. Louis and a late-August game on South Field against defending national champion UCLA.
