Player of the Week

Pepperdine sophomore guard Jade’ Smith averaged team highs of 15.7 points and 8.0 rebounds along with 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals as the Waves won two of three games last week. He shot 58.6 percent (17-for-29) from the field and 54.5 percent (6-for-11) from three.

He had a career-high 19 points in a win against Alabama A&M. He had 15 points and eight rebounds in the Waves’ WCC-opening victory over Loyola Marymount. After an outstanding defensive performance that limited the Lions’ high-scoring guard James Batemon, Pepperdine Coach Lorenzo Romar credited Jade’s effort and said “he is about as good a defensive guard that I’ve coached.”
