On its opening drive of Saturday's football game at LaVell Edwards Stadium against BYU, Liberty drove the ball 75 yards on 10 plays to score a touchdown.

BYU fans on Twitter were not pleased with the defensive effort.

But from that point for the rest of the first half, the Cougars asserted their dominance, scoring 17 unanswered point to take a 17-7 lead at the half.

The BYU faithful were most pleased with a trick play where wide receiver Micah Simon threw a 44 yard touchdown pass to tight end Matt Bushman.

After Liberty scored a field goal one its first possession of the second half, BYU scored on a fourth-and-2 when Baylor Romney found Aleva Hifo for a 41-yard pass.

The Flames bounced back, and scored a touchdown, to cut back into the Cougars' lead.

BYU beat Liberty, 31-24.
