The UMass defense is giving up 52.4 points per game and 555.1 yards per game, ranking dead last in the nation in both categories.

On Saturday, in the first half while hosting BYU, the Minutemen gave up 49 points and 440 yards to Zach Wilson and the Cougar offense.

The 440 yards of total offense ranks No. 4 for BYU in any half of football.

Wilson threw for 293 yards and four touchdowns in the first half.

Jackson McChesney ran for 56 yards and touchdown as well.

With all of that offense in the first half, Cougar fans enjoyed the scoring output, and some even started to feel bad for UMass.

To start the second half, the BYU defense held UMass to another three-and-out, but a muffed punt gave the Minutemen the ball in the redzone and they scored a quick touchdown to cut into the BYU lead.

BYU beat UMass, 56-24.
