Ask nearly any college football fan which conference is the best in the country, and most likely they'll tell you the SEC.
BYU plays the SEC's Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday on ESPN. The game is the first time these two teams will face each other.
This is not the first time that the Cougars have played an opponent from the vaunted SEC. In fact, BYU is 6-6 against current SEC members.
Missouri - 1-1
Two BYU players make Cougar fans smile when they think about playing Missouri. Steve Young and Eddie Stinnett connected on BYU's final play of the 1983 Holiday Bowl to defeat the Tigers, 21-17.
But Young did not throw this touchdown pass. He caught it.
Trailing 17-14 with 31 seconds left, the BYU coaches called "Fake right, 28 quarterback screen left."
After handing the ball to Stinnett, Young peeled off and headed up field as Stinnett threw the ball back to Young, who caught the back end of the football and scored the game-winning touchdown.

Ole Miss - 1-0
BYU's Kyle Van Noy made one his legendary plays against the Ole Miss Rebels to shock the crowd in Oxford, Mississippi.
The Cougars were trailing, 13-7, and Ole Miss was facing a third-and-27 from its own 21. As quarterback Zack Stoudt dropped back to pass, Van Noy rushed around the end and stripped the football away from Stoudt at the 9-yard line.
As players converged on the loose pigskin, Van Noy was able to scoop up the ball and dive into the end zone for the game-winning touchdown.
Georgia - 0-1
BYU quarterback Steve Young threw six interceptions in a 17-14 loss to Georgia on Sept. 11, 1982.
Hershel Walker ran for 124 yards and a touchdown in the win.
Alabama - 0-1
Quarterback Kevin Feterick threw for 182 yards and one touchdown in the Cougars' 38-31 loss to the Crimson Tide at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Texas A&M - 2-1
With just over a minute to play in the 1996 Pigskin Classic, BYU quarterback Steve Sarkisian dropped back and fired deep to K.O. Kealaluhi down the left sideline. Kealaluhi hauled it in behind the Texas A&M defense and took it in for the 45-yard touchdown. After crossing the goal line, he slid to the ground with the ball held above him in celebration as his teammates mobbed him.
Other games vs. Texas A&M:
Sept. 8, 1979 - BYU 18, Texas A&M 17

Mississippi State - 2-1
Matt Payne's 25-yard field goal split the uprights just as time expired and the No. 7 Cougars knocked off Mississippi State 41-38 on Dec. 1, 2001.
The Cougars found themselves down 10 points in the second half, but as they had all season, they found a way to win.
The win was bitter-sweet for Cougar fans as it was the last game running back Luke Staley ever played for BYU. Staley hurt his ankle on a run late in the fourth quarter, which ended his season.
Other games vs. Mississippi State:
Sept. 14, 2000 - Mississippi State 44, BYU 28
Oct. 15, 2016 - BYU 28-21, OT
The LSU Tigers completely stuffed the Cougar rushing game, filling the holes and making no mistakes as BYU’s longest gain on the ground was a six-yard scramble by junior quarterback Tanner Mangum in the 24-0 shutout.
