It’s crowded at the top of the West Coast Conference women’s soccer standings.
Five teams are tied for the No. 1 spot in the conference with 3-1-0 records. BYU was the last unbeaten team in WCC play, but lost at Pepperdine 2-1 on Saturday. The Cougars are locked up with the Waves, Santa Clara, Portland and Gonzaga at the top of the standings.
BYU will try to maintain their spot while traveling to the Bay Area for two road matches. The Cougars play at last-place Pacific on Thursday and take on Saint Mary’s in Moraga on Saturday.
The Cougars have been successful against those two teams in the past, owning a 5-1 mark against Pacific and a 7-0-1 record with Saint Mary’s.
BYU will return home next week for a home match against San Francisco on Oct. 25 and will host No. 7 Santa Clara on Oct. 27.
