Here’s the Daily Herald’s look at who are currently the top five Utah Valley teams in high school football and volleyball (as of Oct. 18):

FOOTBALL

1. Skyridge (9-1, 4-1, Region 4)

No. 3 6A seed has given up just 85 points in 10 games

2. Lone Peak (6-2, 4-1 Region 4)

Only team to beat Corner Canyon in three seasons is No. 2 6A seed

3. Springville (8-1, 4-1 Region 8)

No. 1 5A seed is really good in the trenches

4. Timpview (8-2, 5-0 Region 7)

No. 2 5A seed hangs its hat on explosive offense

5. Provo (7-2, 3-2 Region 9)

Bulldogs will be No. 5 seed in 5A playoffs

VOLLEYBALL

1. Lone Peak (21-4, 7-0 Region 4)

12 straight wins for Knights, who have balance on offense

2. Mountain View (20-6, 7-1 Region 7)

Bruins leadership will be an advantage at state tourney

3. Timpview (20-6, 9-1 Region 7)

Taliah Lee is one of state’s best hitters (4.3 kills per set)

4. Maple Mountain (21-4, 7-1 Region 9)

Gracie Keisel and Marley Pratt are great 1-2 offensive punch for Eagles

5. Skyridge (18-7, 4-3 Region 4)

Falcons will be battle tested when 6A tournament arrives
