Here’s a look at our first Valley Top 5 rankings for boys basketball, girls basketball, boys wrestling and girls wrestling for the 2022-23 season:
Boys Basketball
1. American Fork (4-1)
Good results against a tough schedule for Cavemen

Notched an impressive win vs. Wasatch Academy on Nov. 29
3. Lehi (2-0)
Hosting some talented out-of-state teams this week
4. Westlake (3-0)
Important matchup vs. Lehi on Tuesday

6-5 sophomore Ike Staley off to a great start

Knight versatility is just so hard to match.
2. Springville (3-0)
Red Devils held on for big preseason win at Skyridge.

Thunder have yet to be tested in four big wins.

Pioneers to face out-of-state competition later this week.
5. Payson (2-0)
Lions kicked off 2022-23 with rivalry wins over Salem Hills and Maple Mountain.

Lions placed second at the prestigious Layton Invitational Tournament.
2. Pleasant Grove
Vikings go 6-3 at the very demanding Millard Ironman Duals.

Thunder setting sights on getting a trophy in 6A this season.

Wasps still have outstanding individual depth.
5. Spanish Fork
Dons were fourth at the Skyhawk Showdown.
