Divisional tournaments to qualify for state dominated the week in boys wrestling with qualifying tournaments on Wednesday and Thursday.

Westlake bested Corner Canyon to win the 6A Divisional B and had five individual champions. The Thunder will take at least 17 to state as they hope to chase down the 2-time defending 6A champs Layton, who qualified 23 wrestlers to the big tourney.

Pleasant Grove had three individual champs as the Vikings placed third in the Divisional A tournament behind Layton and Davis respectively. Lone Peak placed fourth with one champ.

Spanish Fork looks good to repeat in 5A as the Dons qualified 22 athletes and nine individual champions including two weight classes where they put two grapplers in the championship finals. Salem Hills, Maple Mountain and Springville finished third through fifth respectively behind second place Viewmont and each team had one individual champion.

Box Elder did qualify 26 wrestlers for the 5A state tourney while winning the Divisional B meet as Wasatch placed a strong second and qualified 17 wrestlers with five individual champs.

In the 4A Divisional B tournament Mountain View had five individual champs while Payson crowned two individual champs and a second-place finish. The Bruins qualified 21 wrestlers and Payson 14.

Uintah looked especially strong as the Utes qualified 21 wrestlers with seven champions in the 4A Divisional A meet. In fact, in two weights the Utes put both of their wrestlers in the championship finals. Timpanogos slipped past Ridgeline to take second and qualified 16.

The top eight wrestlers qualified for state while the ninth-place wrestler will be the first alternate.
