Home runs by Kobe Freeman and Tate Holmes in the seventh inning allowed Lone Peak to overcome an early deficit to defeat Fremont 7-3 on Thursday and stay alive in the Class 6A tournament.
Freeman hit a three-run home shot and Holmes added a solo inside-the-park homer for the Knights. Chase Comer shut down the Silverwolves, retiring 18 of the final 19 batters he faced after giving up three runs in the second inning. Comer allowed just four hits and struck out four.
Tanner Nielson went 3 for 4 for Lone Peak (17-12). Fremont finished the season 20-10.
The Knights faced Syracuse Thursday afternoon in an elimination game, which was postponed in the top of the first inning due to rain. The game will resume on Friday at 12:30 p.m. at UCCU Ballpark, with the winner taking on Pleasant Grove in the 6A championship game immediately following that result.
