Even with all their success, Pleasant Grove faced one final must-win game to secure sole possession of the Region 4 title and the top seed in the 6A playoffs when American Fork came to down.
Casey Brown stepped up on the biggest stage of the season, scoring 31 points to help the Vikings hold off a determined effort by the Cavemen and get the 86-83 win.
Brown has been a tremendous presence for Pleasant Grove all season long. Not only has he led the way with 17 points per game, he is also a leader on the floor who understands what it takes to be successful.
Big-time players always step up when the stakes are the highest and that’s just what Marisa Bowman did for the Falcons during their run to the 5A semifinals.
Bowman scored in double digits in all three games (12 points in a win over Alta, 16 in a win over Murray and 16 in a loss to Corner Canyon) as she relentlessly battled inside for Skyridge. She also grabbed 22 total rebounds during the tournament.
Although she was limited by injury at times in 2018-19, Bowman was a big piece for the Falcon squad who won Region 8 and had a great season overall as they finished 21-3 on the year.
