Utah County is known to be a hotbed for high school football.
There have been 35 football state titles won by Utah Valley schools from 1925 to 2019.
Here are a look at the schools with the most state football championships.
Timpview - 11 state football championships
A true dynasty for a decade, the Timpview Thunderbirds have won more state football championships than any other high school in Utah Valley.
Timpview won three state championships in between 1986 and 1997, but in 2004 the Thunderbirds won eight titles, including four straight from 2006-09.
Timpview plays Lehi in the 5A semifinals on Thursday at 2:30 p.m., at Rice-Eccles Stadium at the University of Utah. If the T'Birds win, they will play the winner of the Orem-Salem Hills game in the championship on Nov. 22.

Orem - Eight state football championships
That's how long the drought was for the Orem Tigers between 1994 and their most recent title in 2017.
Orem defeated Timpview to win its third straight championship on Friday.

Payson - Four state football championships
The first state title won by a Utah Valley high school was earned by Payson in 1925. The Lions tied South Sevier in the "B" semifinal, while East and West tied in the "A" semifinal. All four teams were awarded state championships.

Plesant Grove - Three state football championships
Led by head coach Ned Alger, the Vikings became the third Utah Valley football program to win a state championship as they captured the "B" crown in 1955. Pleasant Grove became the first Utah County school to win back-to-back championships when the repeated as the "B" champs in 1956.

Lehi - Three state football championships
Lehi city was abuzz last fall when both Lehi and Skyridge high schools faced each other in the 5A state football championship.
In the end, it was the Pioneers who were victorious, claiming their third football state football championship in school history.

Lone Peak - Two state football championship
The Knights are known for athletic excellence, so it might be surprising that the school only has one state football championship, when Lone Peak beat Fremont in 2011.
The Knights plays for a chance to win their third state football crown in the 6A semifinals on Friday against Corner Canyon at 11 a.m. at Rice-Eccles Stadium at the University of Utah.

American Fork - Two state football championships
The fourth high school to bring a state football championship trophy to Utah Valley, the American Fork Cavemen won the "B" state title in 1961 under the direction of head coach Don Mower. They then repeated the following year.
The Cavemen will face East on Friday, at 2:30 p.m. at Rice-Eccles in the 6A state semifinals.

Provo - One state football championship
Provo head football coach Frank Henderson led the Bulldogs to the 1982 3A state championship, being the sixth high school in Utah County at the time to bring home a football title.

Springville - One state football championship
Springville's last football championship came 33 years ago. Head coach Ray Newberry led the Red Devils to the 3A state football title in 1985.
