Spanish Fork The tradition of great Don softball players appears to have added another name as Briley Young is off to a great start in 2019.
She put together an impressive performance in the Region 10 opener Thursday against Payson, contributing from the circle and at the plate. She struck out 11 Lion batters while hitting a home run and a double in the 10-1 Spanish Fork win.
It was her second win of the week as she also pitched in the 11-1 Don victory over Kearns on Tuesday. Young already has six wins this season with a pair of doubles and the home run.
The Tigers have been getting balanced scoring, which makes them dangerous, but leading the charge has been Kadon Black.
The Orem senior notched a pair of key goals last week, getting the first in a 3-0 win over rival Timpanogos and then getting the second in a tough 3-2 win against Spanish Fork.
Black has already tallied four goals for the Tigers in 2019 and will be a player opposing defenses will have to keep track of throughout the season.
