Here's a look at Tuesday's state softball action.


Spanish Fork 12, Woods Cross 0: At Spanish Fork, the Dons (26-2) jumped out to a 4-0 lead and scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth to end this game on the run rule after five innings. Cambrie Hazel homered and pitched five innings of shutout ball for Spanish Fork. Gabby Beckstrom homered twice for the Dons.

Maple Mountain 9, Box Elder 3: At Brigham City, the Golden Eagles (11-12) pulled off the big road upset, scoring three runs in the third and three more in the fourth to take an 8-1 lead over Box Elder (24-5). Maple Mountain will be at Skyridge in a winners' bracket game on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Skyridge 15, Murray 8: At Murray, the Falcons (12-16) came up with the road win at Murray (14-7), scoring 13 runs in the second inning to pull the upset and earn a win in their first-ever state softball tournament game. Skyridge will host Maple Mountain on Thursday in a second-round game.

Cyprus 2, Orem 0: At Magna, the fourth-place team from Region 7, Orem (10-13), gave Region 6 champion Cyprus (20-3) a battle, but couldn't quite come up with the victory. Orem had just three hits, but held the Pirates to only five hits. Orem will be at Bountiful in an elimination game on Thursday.


Lehi 9, Taylorsville 3: At Lehi, the Pioneers (15-13) scored five runs in the bottom of the second to take a 6-1 lead and cruised in from there to beat Taylorsville (11-8) and move on to face Region 2's No. 1 team, Davis, in the second round on Thursday. 

Bingham 10, Pleasant Grove 0: At South Jordan, the Miners (20-6) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning and the Vikings (15-9) never recovered. Brighton Fenton and Ari Owens had the only hits for Pleasant Grove.
