Here's a look at Thursday's prep swimming action.
Mountain View 682, Maple Mountain 493, American Leadership Academy 192: At Orem, the Bruins scored 682 points to defeat the Maple Mountain and American Leadership in a tri-meet on Thursday. The Mountain View boys placed first with 220 points, while the girls scored 163 points. Maple Mountain's boys finished second with 138 points and the girls finished with 128 points.
Anson Wood (200-yard freestyle), Matt Runnells (200-yard individual medley, 100-yd backstroke), Harry Kim (100-yard freestyle), Canon Shumway (500-yard freestyle), and Tanner Harmon (100-yard breaststroke) each had individual first-place finishes for the Bruin's boys team. Shumway, Harmon, Runnells and Kim also placed first in the men's 400-yd relay.
For Mountain View's girls team, Gabbie Rhyndress (100-yard butterfly) and Nessie Hahne (100-yard freestyle) won individual events, while their 200-yd medley relay consisting of Lauren VaughAn, Rhyndress, Abby Nielson, and Hahn placed first.
Maple Mountain's Ally Cook (200-yard individual medley, 100-yard backstroke) and Melody Cazier (500-yard freestlye) won individual events for the girls. The Golden Eagles' girls dominated the freestyle relays with a team made up of Kensi Bassett, Mallory Mckell, Cook, and Cazier winning both the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard relay.
Kagan Nelson (50-yard freestyle) and Logan Marks (100-yard butterfly) both won first place in individual events for the Maple Mountain boys team. Nelson, Hampton Bassett, Marks, and Cade Parkinson led the Golden Eagles to a win in the 200-yard medley relay and Chad Laursen, Hampton Bassett, Parkinson and Nelson won the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Amy Peterson from American Leadership placed first in both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke.
