Top 5A/6A wrestling teams battle for state titles 29

Jayden Adamson defeated Cooper Cox in the 120-pound weight class and Ernest Barlow earned a sudden victory against Brody Esquivel to key the Skyridge Falcons to a 42-27 win over Maple Mountain on Thursday night. 

The Falcons have won three tournaments so far, and continue to wrestle well, as evidenced by a good showing against the Golden Eagles. The Falcons won nine of the 14 matches in the dual meet, with Colby Eastmond defeating Declan Morris (126 pounds), Hadley Cowan topping Dillan Shepherd (132), Braden Rex holding out for a victory over Alex Kriser on a fall (138), Aaron Ewart topping Quinlin Jackson (145), James Hornbert taking down Colten Bean (152) and Berklee Barlow defeating Jackson Huff on a fall (182), along with Ernest Barlow and Adamson's wins. Joshua Millward triumphed in the 113-pound weight class on a forfeit. 

For the Golden Eagles, Maple Mountains Brock Morris topped Hunter Brown (106), Andrew Jensen defeated Loyal Holm (160), Zack Johnson claimed victory over Trace Muse (170), Kalvin Smith beat Kameron Ravert (220) and Carson Kay quickly pinned Brenner Healy (285).
