Tahitian Noni changing name

By Danny Crivello - American Fork Citizen - | Apr 19, 2012

Tahitian Noni, a company that markets products made from the noni plant, changed its name Wednesday to Morinda Bioactives.

The company, whose only U.S. factory is in American Fork, said the new name reflects the morinda citrifolia — the scientific name for the noni plant and fruit — and “bioactives” as a broader definition of the company’s expertise, production, packaging and selling of products that produce biological activity in the body.

“We are moving into an area where we have scientific support to prove,” public relations director Andre Peterson said. “We are moving into a more scientific role; our products will look more scientific.”

The bioactive platform will include bioactive products from multiple sources, not just from the noni plant.

The announcement comes ahead of the company’s largest and first global conference and worldwide launch of the company’s revamped bioactive beverages and new products.

Founded in 1996 and based in Provo, Utah, the company employs approximately 1,500 employees worldwide. Though the company doesn’t divulge earnings, it claims total yearly sales in the range of $500 million. It has manufacturing factories in Tahiti, Japan, China, Germany, and here in American Fork.

Starting at $4.32/week.
