AFHS cross-country team finishes second at Nationals
The American Fork boys cross-country team finished second at the NXN National Cross Country Championships in Portland, Ore., Saturday. It’s the best-ever finish for the Cavemen, who came in eighth the last two years. Their combined time on the course was 89:53.
They were edged by Arcadia, Calif., 108-122. The difference in the cumulative times was just five seconds per runner.
Brayden McLelland led the way for American Fork, placing eighth overall and second of the team runners with a 17:25.
Connor McMillan was eighth, Zach Jacklin 20th, Caleb Thompson 44th and Tyson Green 48th. Tyler Bell and Spencer Herzog also ran for the Cavemen.
“This was a fantastic way to end the season,” said coach Timo Mostert. “These boys have worked hard for a whole year to have this opportunity, and they made the most of it.”
