Sunday afternoon a call brought the American Fork Fire Department to the home of Don E. Olsen, 470 North 1st East, where two persons were injured and damages of several thousand dollars was done when fire enveloped the kitchen.
The blaze apparently resulted from an explosion of materials being heated on the kitchen stove. The entire room immediately burst into flames which destroyed the kitchen. Cabinets, cupboards, stove, refrigerator, and furnishings were charred by the flames and the whole house suffered severe smoke damage

More than 250 people have been working hard this past month getting ready for the annual Christmas Pageant which will be presented Dec. 21 and 22nd., at the Alpine Stake Tabernacle. Various committees are busy getting the staging, lighting, properties, costumes, decorating, and others necessary for the production. This is the twentieth anniversary of the Christmas pageant by the MIA of Alpine Stake. The first pageant, produced in 1932, was written by Elbert H. Eastmond, a member of the BYU faculty who was a native of American Fork. It was given at 6 a.m. on Christmas morning.

Organization of a new speech club has been effected at the High School with Miss Jenna Vee Beck as president. Kappa Delta Alpha membership is not based on popularity or scholarship but on participation in school speech activities. Leroi Jones is the faculty advisor.

Reuben Wagstaff, son of Robert Wagstaff has been advanced to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. At the present time he is an instructor at the University of Virginia.

The American Fork Firemen together with the management of the Apollo Hall and the Americans orchestra are combining to put over one of the biggest dances of the season tomorrow night in the Apollo Hall to raise funds to take take care of the Firemen’s annual holiday project, the Community Christmas Tree.
