The American Fork Firemen will hold their annual Firemen’s Dance, Saturday, Nov. 17 [1962], at the Utah National Guard Armory. Each year for about the past twenty-five years, the local firemen have held this dance for the purpose of raising money in order to provide a Christmas treat for the small-fry in town.

Robert Smith, A.F.H.S. senior was named All-state lineman for the 1952 football season. Captain of the team this year, Bob has played on the main team for the past three years.

Compilation of the Alpine school census shows an increase of almost 60 per cent since 1940, according to D. R. Mitchell. District enrollment this year is 8591 compared to 5300 twelve years ago, making an increase of 3292 students.

The American Fork Cavemen became the only undefeated untied team in Region 3, when last Friday at Lehi the huskies from the high school trounced the Lehi Pioneers by a score of 12-0.

Utah County commissioners have taken under consideration a tentative budget for the next year’s operation proposing expenditures of $488,372.40. This is $16,090.35 higher than this year’s budget.

Tabulation of the recent census of the Alpine Schools show a total of 5271 children of school age. American Fork had 750 boys and 734 girls, a total of 1484. Comparing this with the census 10 years ago, shows an increase of 337 children in the district, or a total of 4934. In 1922, American Fork had a school population of 1055.
