Elder Gordon B. Hinckley, a member of the Council of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will preside over the Alpine Stake Quarterly Conference to be held this weekend, according to Phil D. Jensen, Stake President. Everyone is invited to attend.
Elder Hinckley has coordinated the world-wide missionary program of the Church since 1951. For 13 years before that, he supervised the radio programs, publicity and mission litterature of the Church. Elder Hinckley is also the author of five books and many pamphlets and articles. Music for the sessions will be furnished by the Alpine Stake Male Chorus and Alpine Stake Ladies Chorus.

American Fork’s FFA Chapter’s livestock judging champions are scheduled to leave Salt Lake, Oct 11 for Kansas City, Mo. where they will compete for National livestock judging honors. Jesse Wagstaff, Allen Christensen and Vard Swain are looking forward to this occasion with great enthusiasm. A. B. Allen, chapter advisor, will make the trip with the boys

American Fork can justly be proud of two of her boys who have figured prominently in world news this past week. Lieut. Glade Jorgenson, piloted a B-24 which took an exciting part in a raid at Navarino, Greece, and Cpl. Dell Grant was a member of Carlson’s Raiders , the fighting Marines who made a sudden attack on Jap held Makin Island sea plane base, August 17.

In honor of their son, Glen, who leaves soon to enter the army, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Anderson entertained at dinner Wednesday night.

Word was received last week that Melvin Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ren Anderson is stationed at St. Louis. John C. Olsen is stationed Camp Florence, Arizona. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Patrick. Leland Wimmer is stationed at Camp McDonough, Great Lakes, Ill., and Howard Cunnigham is at Fort Lewis, Washington.

Final respects were paid to L. W. Gaisford, former publisher of the American Fork Citizen who was laid to rest in the American Fork Cemetery following services held in the Second Ward Chapel. Lorenzo W. Gaisford died at his home in Los Angeles. Ill health forced the family to move to California several years ago. The immediate cause of death was pneumonia.
