Fred T. Wright, 771 N 1st E., has been elected Republican chairman of the American Fork Precinct. The election was held under the direction of David K. Hart, Provo, Utah County Republican chairman and Clyde Harvey, county Republican treasurer. Mrs. Francis Mortenson will assist the new precinct chairman and vice-chairman; Mrs. Rulon Winters, secretary, and Mrs. Howard Nicholes, treasurer.

Miss Louise Beck was selected from among 14 lovely girls from American Fork to reign as Steel Day Queen at the contest Monday night. Attendants to Miss Beck will be Carol Beckstrand and Kathleen Buckwalter.
Miss Connie Robinson, runner-up in the Steel Day queen contest, will be Miss American Fork. Attending her at the Labor Day celebration will be Diane Walker and Lois Humphries.

Miss Joan Ellison, who has been in the North Western States LDS Mission for the past 20 months, returned home Tuesday. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ellison drove to the Northwest to bring her home.

William F. McAllister celebrated his 97th birthday Saturday. Open house was held at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur D. McAllister. As a youth Mr. McAllister marched in the torchlight parade during the presidential campaign of President Lincoln.

Dr. and Mrs. J. F. Noyes have received word that their son Junius has been advanced to the rank of Sergeant. He has been stationed at Honolulu since March.
