McDonald’s missing $1,608 after manager walks away with cash and spends it: AFPD
McDonald’s in American Fork is not lovin’ it: One of its employees robbed the place.
The American Fork Police Department arrested and charged a McDonald’s manager with theft last Wednesday after he failed to return over $1600 taken from the store.
McDonald’s officials said one of their managers, 42-year-old Andrew Goldsmith, left the American Fork store with bags containing $1,608 in cash — and went on to spend it.
Goldsmith said McDonald’s allegations weren’t true and that he had deposited the cash money after closing the store, as he was instructed.
But according to records provided by McDonald’s, none of the money had appeared in the restaurant’s bank account. AFPD responded to the call after McDonald’s officials attempted to reach Goldsmith several times, and he continued to assure them the money had been deposited.
Goldsmith eventually confessed to the police he took the money from the store and did not make the deposit. Goldsmith also stated the money is now gone and that he was willing to pay it back. The Salt Lake City resident was arrested, booked in Utah County jail and released on a $7,500 bail. He is due to appear in court Thursday.
Court records show Goldsmith had also been arrested and charged with theft on Dec. 2 by the Orem Police Department.
