On Monday night firemen were called out at about 11 p.m. to a fire at the home of Ross Brott at 165 East 2nd South where a passing motorist noticed that a garage and storage building were ablaze. The unknown man called the Fire Department and then proceeded to keep the fire under control until their arrival with a hose at the residence. His action possibly saved the premises from some very serious damage. Damage to the structure which is next to several chicken coops and a hay barn was estimated by firemen at around $200.

American Fork took delivery last week on a new 1953 Pontiac from the Paul L. Harmon Company. It is a Chieftain Deluxe Eight model with special economy high speed rear axle. The license plates were presented to Mr. Harmon to Police Chief Leo Van Wagoner, and Milton Adams, a member of the police staff.

Based on Federal Housing Association home allotments the past year, American Fork is the fastest growing community in Utah County. The city has been allotted more than 200 home units out of the 1180 issued to the entire county, which reduced to percentages on a population basis makes this the fastest growing city in the county.

The American Fork basketball team was decisively defeated by Lehi on the local team’s own floor. The score was 52-25. The largest crowd of the season was present to witness the game.
