Thursday, Jan. 10, 1963

Two American Fork men were among the ten Utah County officials, elected to office in November, who were installed in office Monday, Jan. 7, at noon by the Fourth District Court Judges, Joseph E. Nelson and Maurice Harding. David E. Greenwood took his office as County Commissioner, replacing Rulon Nicholes, American Fork, who was not a candidate for re-election, and Guy Ivins, County Assessor, who was re-elected last November. Both men are Democrats.

Thursday, Jan. 15, 1953

Bruce Andrew Block was the first baby born to an American Fork mother in the local hospital this year. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Block are the parents.

Darrell Wanlass won the radio offered as a door prize at the opening of Harmon Auto Co. Phyllis Radmall won a set of tumblers and Fred Warnick won a new brake light.

Friday, Jan. 15, 1943

The state basketball tourney will be cancelled this spring according to the Utah High School Athletic Association. It will be the first time in 35 years that the annual meet has not been held. With the cancellation of the meet, prep basketball play will end with the regular division schedules.

A party was held this week in the 2nd Ward Firmage Hall for seven ward members who will soon leave for military duty. Boys honored were: Bob Halstrom, Warner Loefler, Gene Welch, Gene Parker, David Packard, Myron Crystal, Irvin Chipman and Dale Peters. Halstrom and Leoffler will leave immediately.

Miss Miriam Young and Richard Walton are the only freshman from American Fork registered at the BYU this year. Most of the 1942 graduates are working in war industries this year.

Friday, Jan 13, 1933

Members of the American Fork High School basketball team were forced to return home Saturday night, after the bus which was taking them to Tooele was struck by a car at the Point-of-the-Mountain. None of the passengers in the bus were injured beyond cuts and bruises. One occupant of the auto received a broken leg.

Problems of vital interest to the state’s poultry industry, including a proposal to amend the association’s corporate articles, will be presented at the annual convention of the Utah Poultry Cooperative Association in Salt Lake, January 17 and 18. Between 800 and 1000 Utah and southern Idaho poultrymen will attend the sessions at the Newhouse Hotel, it is estimated by Clyde C. Edmonds, assoication general manager.
