After double-overtime thriller, Cavemen bow to Vikings
Pleasant Grove 76, American Fork 75, 2 OT: At Pleasant Grove, with 2.6 seconds left in the second overtime, Matt Conway snagged a long pass near the 3-point line, drove hard to the basket and was fouled with .1 second left on the clock. He missed the first shot, but hit the second to give Pleasant Grove (13-4, 3-1) a narrow Region 4 victory over American Fork (10-7, 2-2) in a classic high school basketball game that had a little bit of everything.
American Fork’s Ryan Andrus, who went off for 31 points, sent the game into the second overtime by scoring on an old-fashioned three-point play with just seconds remaining and his team trailing by three. Pleasant Grove missed a 25-footer at the buzzer.
Conway led the Vikings with 25 points. Nate Didrickson added 12 points, all coming on 3-pointers, and Forrest Pincock added 11.
Tyler Rawson added 23 points for the Cavemen, while Brayden Harris had 11.
