The problem of trailer is still very much with the city. Several requests have been received for permits to locate trailer homes within the city. After lengthy discussion at regular council meeting, the members of the council agreed that the trailer ordinance which was passed May 16 shall be binding and that no further permits will be issued.

Three of four latest persons to file damage claims against United States Steel Corp. for alleged fluorine damage are American Fork citizens. The fourth is a Pleasant Grove resident. The suits have been filed in U.S. Federal Court in Salt Lake City seeking $250,000 for alleged damages to farms and property assertedly caused by excessive fluorine from the Geneva Steel Plant. This brings to $1,300,000 the total in damages now being sought from the plant in federal court by farmers over the fluorine issue. Each of the four latest plaintiffs charged that their lands had been damaged by noxious gases permitted to escape from the Geneva Steel Plant of the U.S. Steel Corp.

Fire this week destroyed the stairway between O.P. Skaggs store and M.C. Robinson apartment on Main Street yesterday. Early discovery and quick response of the Am. Fork Fire Department saved the city a disastrous fire in the center of the business district. It is assumed that the blaze started from fireworks the Robinson girls had been shooting off.

Victim of drowning caused by a sudden heart attack this week was Dayel Dean, 29. The accident occurred at the Mill Pond where Mr. Dean was swimming with friends.

Offices of the Alpine School District have been moved from the Bank of American Fork Building into the north wing of the Harrington School building the past week.

Sheriff E. G. Durnell issued a warning Monday to all swimmers of this district using the Mill Pond that they must wear suits. For some time boys and men have been using the pond for swimming and complaints have been registered that a good number never wear anything while swimming. Arrests will follow if the warning is not heeded.
