Timpanogos Chorale to kick off American Fork’s Concerts in the Park
Timpanogos Chorale will kick off the 2013 Concerts in the Park, which begins Monday, June 3, at the American Fork Amphitheater at Quail Cove, 851 East, 700 North, a yearly event presented by the American Fork Arts Council. The event takes place every Monday evening from June to July 29.
The Chorale, which started in 1963 and enjoyed the directorship of Dale Rasmussen, Paul Mortensen, Annette Anderson, Kathy Jolley, Merilee Barrett Hunter, Kenna Mills, and now Brett Rasmussen, will present “Dear Land of Home.”
Timpanogos Chorale, which was also invited to kick off last year’s Concerts in the Park, has performed at the Golden Spike Centennial celebration, in the Tabernacle on Temple Square and at the Provo Tabernacle Chorale Festival, at the West Valley Multi-Choir Festival in West Jordan and in many surrounding Utah communities. It is planning a tour to Washington, D.C., for Memorial Day 2014 and will be increasing choir membership as well as holding several fundraisers over the next year.
The Concert in the Park will have pre-shows at 6:30 p.m. with the concerts beginning at 7. Admission is free but donations are willingly accepted to fund the program. June 10 is Michael Lucarelli; June 17 is Common Ground, preshow is Lads in Plaid; June 24, Timpanogos Symphony. There are concessions located above the stairs, including popcorn, snow cones, ice cream, candy and drinks.
